I’m finally sharing my homemade PITA BREAD! It’s really not too difficult and it’s absolutely worth it.

What you need

tbsp olive oil

tsp salt
cup warm water
cup all purpose flour
tbsp active dry yeast
Instructions
1. Whisk together sugar and yeast in a large bowl, then stir in the warm water. Let the yeast activate for about 5 minutes. 2. Add salt and olive oil, and stir with wooden spoon. Then stir in the 2.5 cups of flour until combined. 3. Dust a counter with some of the remaining flour. Turn the dough out onto the counter and knead it until smooth. Alternatively you can use a dough hook with a stand mixer. 4. Tuck in the edges of the dough then coat the bowl with olive oil and place the ball of dough into the bowl. 5. Cover the bowl with a towel and let sit for 1-2 hours or until the dough has doubled in size. 6. Remove the dough from the bowl, roll out into an even layer and cut it into 10-12 pieces depending on how small or large you want your pita. Tuck in the edges of each of the pieces to form balls then cover them with the towel and let them rest for 20 more minutes. 7. Roll out the balls into disks, about 6” in diameter. 8. Heat a drizzle of oil in an iron skillet over medium heat. 9. Cook each pita for about 10-20 seconds then flip and cook for another 10-20 seconds. 10. Repeat until all the dough has been cooked.
