Birthday Macarons with Buttercream Icing

What you need

tsp cream of tartar

tsp almond extract

unsalted butter

cup granulated sugar

oz rainbow sprinkles

cup almond flour

cup powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 315 degrees and line a cookie sheet with silicone macaron baking mats. 2. In a bowl mix together the sifted flour & powdered sugar. 3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs whites with a stand or hand mixer until frothy. 4. Start adding in the sugar, little by little. Then add the cream of tartare & extract. 5. Beat the mixture on medium to high speed for about 2 minutes or until it forms stiff peeks. 6. Using a spatula, fold in the flour mixture until the batter in thinned where it unfolds itself in about 10 second. 7. Pour batter into a pipping bag & pipe the macarons onto the sheet. 8. Add sprinkles on top of desired. Bake at 315 for about 15-16 minutes. 9. Remove from the oven and completely cool before trying to remove from the sheet. 10. For the buttercream, beat the softened butter then slowly add in the powder sugar & extract. 11. Pour into a piping bag & dot icing on the macaron & sandwich together. Enjoy!View original recipe
